The "What is".

There comes a time in life when you have to start paying attention to "what is".

what is working for you and what is working against you. What is stealing your time and what is giving you life. What is affirming you and what is speaking against you.

I say this because recently I have adopted the term "I'm tired" and when I say it playfully I don't mean a physical exhaustion, I mean it as more of a mental and spiritual exhaustion.

Being an artist is not a mapped out path and it typically requires more out of you than what will ever be restored back to you. It is a path in which its requirements drink from your well of talents, dreams and optimisms, but never refills the bucket. It's like a roomate that always dirties up the kitchen but never cleans it up. But, in the name of creativity we accept it for what it is and we "keep on keeping on".

But! at some point exhaustion sets in and this is truly a moment in time when we must acknowledge that fork in the road because if we continue down the current path, fatigue could settle in on a new level. However, if we decide to take a moment, slow down and consider the "what is" we may find that God has created a new path for us. A fresh wave of opportunity, success, still waters and green pastures, it just looks a little different than what we understood the road to be but boy is it fruitful.

Change, re-evaluation and reliquishing what has been for so long is hard. But if you are "tired" like me, I want to encourage you to reflect on the "what is".

1). what is working for you?

2). what is working against you?

3). what is stealing your time?

4). what is giving you life?

5). what is affirming you?

6). what is speaking against you?

And ask God to reveal what your restful path of grace is. Chances are you have already received the answer to that question but it simply requires you to step into a new identity. To break out of the cacoon and fly like the beautfully decorated butterfly that He has called you to be. Everything you have done up unto this point has been ground level preparation. But now it's time to enter a space of resting and reaping. So explore the "what is" Because you deserve to live a great life. - Paris
